Let's Make It Yours: Sharing Your Vision for Your Session

Here's something we wish every client knew from the very start: your ideas are always welcome. Your session is about you, and the more you tell us about what you're hoping for, the better we can bring it to life. Some people worry they'll be "too picky" or step on our creative toes, but the truth is the opposite.  We love hearing what's in your head. Open communication is the single easiest way to make sure you walk away with images you adore. So, let's talk about how to share your vision.

Tell us what you're dreaming of

Whatever look, mood, or feeling you have in mind, say it out loud. Want something soft and candid? Bold and dramatic? Playful and full of laughter? Elegant and timeless? There are no wrong answers and no idea that is too big or too small. The more you share, the more we can shape the session around you. Please never hold back for fear of asking for too much, this is exactly the kind of conversation we want to have.

Show us, don't just tell us

Words are great, but pictures are even better. If you've seen poses, styles, or images you love, whether on Pinterest, Instagram, or anywhere else, send them our way. Example images of poses you'd like to try are always a wonderful starting point, because they help us understand exactly what you're picturing. We'll take your inspiration and make it authentically yours.  Having a visual reference makes the whole process smoother and more fun.

Have a location in mind?

If there's a spot you're drawn to, tell us where it is and what you love about it. Was it the golden light, the greenery, a field of flowers, the water, the wide-open feel? Those details matter, because here in the desert, the landscape changes dramatically throughout the year.

A place you visited last spring bursting with wildflowers might look completely different in another season, and a lush green canyon in late summer may be dry and golden a few months later. That's not a problem, it just means that if your favorite spot won't have the look you're after right now, we likely know somewhere else that will. When you tell us the feeling you're chasing, we can find the right place to capture it in the current season.

Make it personal

Some of the most meaningful images come from personal touches. If you'd like your photos to feel more like you, think about bringing props or personal items that tell your story, a beloved instrument, a piece of family jewelry, your dog, a favorite book, the gear from a hobby you love, or anything that carries meaning. These little details turn a nice portrait into a portrait that's unmistakably yours. If you have something in mind, just mention it and we'll work it in.

Tell us what you don't like, too

This one is just as important: if there's something you're not a fan of, please say so! Maybe you don't love a certain pose, aren't comfortable with a particular angle, or want to steer clear of a specific style or setting. Knowing what to avoid is every bit as helpful as knowing what to aim for, and it saves us from spending session time on something that won't make you happy. You'll never hurt our feelings, we'd much rather know.

The more open the conversation, the better

At the end of the day, magic happens when we work together. The more openly you share your desires, the easier it is for us to achieve them, and the more you'll love your final images. Think of us as partners in bringing your vision to life.  You bring the ideas, the inspiration, and the honest feedback, and we'll bring the experience to make it all come together.

Have a session on the calendar, or just starting to dream one up? Reach out anytime and tell us what you're imagining. We can't wait to hear it.
